Mr. Balakrishnan Rajagopal, the UN Special Rapporteur on the right to adequate housing, met with rights activists in Tashkent on August 20, 2024 as part of his visit to Uzbekistan.

Issues such as illegal demolitions taking place in Tashkent, its impact on the environment and climate change, violation of rights to personal property, and its impact on the lives of children and women were discussed. According to the special rapporteur, he will raise all the issues in the framework of meetings with government representatives and develop recommendations.
