The Representative Office of the Association of Central Asia in Uzbekistan was registered by the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Uzbekistan on December 18, 2020. The Association of Central Asia, a parent organization, was founded in 1999 in Sweden and is headed by the politician Pulat Ahunov.
The main objectives of the NGO:
- Assistance in the implementation of democratic reforms to improve the lives of citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the formation of civil society;
- Assistance in the development of democracy and observance of human rights in the Republic of Uzbekistan;
In order to further strengthen public control in Uzbekistan, in December 2021, the National Council of Independent Civil Society was established under the Office.
17 members of the Council operate in all regions of the country and the Republic of Karakalpakstan.
